چکیده
This paper presents an investigation of the power penalties imposed by four-wave mixing (FWM) on G.652 (SingleMode Fiber SMF), G.653 (Dispersion-Shifted Fiber DSF), and G.655 (Non-Zero Dispersion-Shifted Fiber NZDSF) compliant fibers, considering the DWDM grids suggested by the ITU-T Recommendations G.692, and G.694.1, with uniform channel spacing of 100, 50, 25, and 12.5 GHz. The mathematical/numerical model assumes undepleted pumping, and shows very clearly the deleterious effect of FWM on the performance of DWDM systems, measured by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The results make it evident that non-uniform channel spacing is practically mandatory for WDM systems based on DSF fibers.

Analysis the Performance of Coded WSK-DWDM Transmission System
Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) is the system with more than eight active wavelengths per fiber. Again high data rates as well as long spans between amplifiers in a chain require high optical power per channel to satisfy the signal to noise ratio (SNR) requirements. So the DWDM systems with long repeater-less spans, the simultaneous requirements of high launched power and low disp...
متن کاملFour-Wave Mixing in Optical Fibers and Its Applications
When a high-power optical signal is launched into a fiber, the linearity of the optical response is lost. One such nonlinear effect, which is due to the third-order electric susceptibility is called the optical Kerr effect. 1), 2) Four-wave mixing (FWM) is a type of optical Kerr effect, and occurs when light of two or more different wavelengths is launched into a fiber. Generally speaking FWM o...
متن کاملSuppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System
Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...
متن کاملCombating SRS and FWM in an Optical Fiber through Unequal Spacing and Dispersion
In DWDM system, the major non-linearities such as SRS and FWM occurs simultaneously in Long-Haul Communication. As the optical signal propagate through the fiber undergoes power fluctuations and crosstalk between the channels in DWDM system. Due to this major problem, the performance of DWDM system get degrades. In this paper, the effect of SRS and FWM affecting the original Dense Wavelength Di...

This papers show that the adoption of a duo binary Modulation scheme reduces the impact of FWM in a DWDM system. The levels of the FWM products are reduced by around 10 dB which will offer a significant performance benefit in digital systems. We have taken into consideration great demand for high data rate & have designed optical fiber system for 40 Gbps. Keywords-dispersion shifted fiber (DSF)...
